The SIP Center provides a service to all who wish to develop software products using SIP. The SIP Center User Agent can be used by those people merely curious about SIP or more experienced developers who are refining products or services.
The SIP Center User Agent is software that acts as a 'soft phone', allowing the user to control (IP) telephone calls onscreen. All you need is a soundcard in your PC and you're away! Basic call control functionality is offered via a small graphical user interface that is displayed on the user's desktop.
With this software you can make and take SIP calls using the Internet. A call can be made directly from this user agent to another user agent if there are no intervening firewalls or proxy servers, but more typically your calls (incoming and outgoing) will be routed through external SIP servers.
The SIP Center User Agent can also be used as a test tool. Developers of SIP applications that wish to benchmark their products against a protocol compliant application can use the known parameters of the User Agent to test against.
